5 ways promotional items can help to grow your business

When it comes to promoting a business in the digital age, many people will turn to things like social media, email marketing campaigns, Google AdWords, and boosting organic web traffic via organic SEO strategies. However, some of the old conventional methods should not be overlooked; one such method being promotional branded merchandise.

Items such as pens, t-shirts, and mouse mats emblazoned with your company branding should not be overlooked when it comes to promoting and growing your business. Here are just a few reasons why promo items can work for you and your business…

  1. People like free stuff: Everyone likes to receive free stuff, and if they say they don’t, well, they’re lying! It doesn’t always matter what that stuff is, people enjoy being given something for nothing; it makes them feel like they’re winning at life.
  2. Make it useful: Whilst it’s true that people do like to receive free stuff, no matter what it is, it’s always better to give them something that will be useful to them. Things like pens, umbrellas, mugs, and key rings are all things that people are likely to use; and the more they use them, the more your company will be at the forefront of their mind.
  3. Include your contact details: Whilst it’s important to get your brand image out there, one of the key things that you simply must remember to include on your promotional merchandise is your contact details. This could simply be your website address, which should hopefully have a contact page with your business address, phone numbers, and emails listed. A phone number or email can be included, but are perhaps not suitable for branded t-shirts and other wearable items as they may appear too spammy.
  4. Pay attention to the quality: Obviously you’ll want to keep your costs as low as possible so that you maximise your return on investment, but it’s also a good idea to ensure that any products you give out are of a good quality. People are more likely to carry on using good quality branded shopper bags, hoodies, pens, notepads etc; therefore meaning your brand remains in their field of thought for longer periods.
  5. Consider selling your branded items: Whilst it’s nice to give free promotional items to your existing and potential customers, it’s not always the best option for your profit margin. Consider selling things like t-shirts, shopper bags, hats etc at cost price. Sure, you won’t make a profit on their sale, but their lower price point will encourage more people to purchase them, and those people then become walking advertisements for your company whenever they wear or use the items.
